Mainstream Catering is a division of the Mainstream Leisure Group. At first a specialist marine caterer, it was formed in 1988 by Nigel Scandrett and Niall McInerney. Nigel Scandrett has been the largest organiser of parties on the Thames for the past 30 years, and apart from his party planning business is the co-owner of a fleet of ten boats, based in Maidenhead and London. Uniquely he views each event from the perspective of the client, as well as the operator. Niall McInerney has been associated with the river for over 25 years. First as Catering Director of Greenwich Pleasure Craft back in the 1970?s and now as a partner in Mainstream Catering. In between he has managed and owned a chain of pubs, built up and sold a number of contract catering units, operated a travelling catering service around Irish racecourses and currently also runs the food and beverage services for a 400 bedroom Hotel in London. For many years Mainstream Catering existed to service Mainstream Leisure clients for events on the Thames, the Regents Canal and land venues. From Dinners for 2 to Family Sports & Social Days for in excess of 700 guests. In 1997 they branched out into taking outside catering work for clients, while still very much specialising in marine events. While preferring to utilise existing kitchens on board vessels or at land venues they are very adaptable and where facilities are limited will always suggest menus that are actually feasible to be produced. If required additional equipment can be sourced and hired in to produce the desired effect. Their own kitchens are to be found in Wembley, personally supervised by Niall McInerney. Their philosophy is to produce quality value-for-money catering, offering good-sized portions using friendly, yet professional staff. Good food, well prepared. Please note that there is a minimum charge per function of £550 + Vat. Menus can be taken from the list or designed specifically to a budget. Clients are welcome to mix n' match dishes to create their own menu which will then be costed. Flexibility is their credo. |
